Did You Know:
  • The South Carolina-Clemson rivalry is the third longest uninterrupted series in all of college football.
  • Not counting ties, 37 games in the rivalry have been decided by 7 points or less.  The Gamecocks have a 20-17 record against the Tigers in games decided by 7 points or less.

Conference Records:

  • While in the ACC, Carolina had a 9-9 record against Clemson.
  • As an independent, Carolina had a 5-15 record against Clemson.
  • Since joining the SEC, Carolina has a 7-12 record against Clemson.

Big Thursday (1896-1959)

  • The first game between Clemson and South Carolina was held on a Thursday morning in Columbia, SC in conjunction with the state fair.  This became a tradition.  From then on, the annual match up between the Tigers and Gamecocks took place on "Big Thursday" in conjunction with the State Fair (usually held in October) in Columbia, SC.
  • South Carolina held a 21-33-2 record in Big Thursday Games
  • The last "Big Thursday" game was in 1959.  The game was then moved to the end of the season.  Since 1959, the game has alternated locations yearly.  Clemson hosts the rivalry on even years and South Carolina hosts the rivalry on odd years.

The Modern Era (1960-PRESENT)

  • IN CLEMSON: South Carolina holds a 9-16-1 record
  • IN COLUMBIA: South Carolina holds a 10-17-1 record
  • From 2003-2010, the team that has rushed the ball for the most yards won.
